The last two government submissions I've made have been rejected with the following (see screenshot) message.
"Your submission is not complete:
You have been rejected by Google reCAPTCHA, please try the following steps before attempting your submission again: 1. Try using a different browser or different device to make your submission 2. Try clearing your browser’s cookies and cache before making your submission 3. If the above steps do not fix the issue, please contact parliament.website@parliament.govt.nz"
But I never saw any Recaptcha. So I wrote to the address provided and received the following response.
"Apologies for the inconvenience here. The newer versions of Google reCAPTCHA (used here) run in the background and are not visible or interactive. This is frustrating when they give false positives like you’ve experienced, but it is necessary to help protect the system from cyber-attacks.
"Could you try clearing your browser cache and cookies and attempting again? This often resolves the issue, but if you run into it again please email back and I’ll reach out to see if the committee will accept an emailed submission from you."
Say what?
I've found that I can submit using another browser, ironically one loaded with anti-trackers and blockers, but what's this nonsense about invisible recaptchas?
Luckily I'd drafted my work in Word, but another point to note is the submission form does not allow pasting. Nope!
I worked around that by using a little utility called TypeItIn, but surely it shouldn't be this difficult to make a submission? Is the Luxon government deliberately making the process more difficult?
