Cursed hack to fix Mastodon-Threadiverse communication
If I post something to a remote community, Mastodon people reply directly to me, and it doesn't make it to the remote community. 👎
If I snuck in a mention to the community (but not in text), Mastodon would prefill the community mention and it would propagate correctly. 👍

Why do some people on the #Fediverse feel so strongly about Lemmy?
Isn't an #opensource alternative to #Reddit a good thing?
@madeindex The other replies on this thread have covered a lot of the topic and I'll also mention #threadiverse projects like PieFed and KBin/Mbin as alternatives. (I'm not close enough to any of this to have much of an opinion, however).

FEP-f15d: Context Relocation and Removal
Threaded applications often have the need to move and remove content between groups/communities for curation purposes (i.e. resolving miscategorization, spam, etc.)
This is an extension of the [Resolvable Contexts][//w3id.org/fep/7888] tree of FEPs.

Cross-posting is coming to NodeBB!
tl;dr — cross-posting is coming to NodeBB in v4.9.0. It will be internal-only for now, as we work through social issues with federated cross-posting. Existing category sync and auto-categorization logic in NodeBB now utilises cross-posts instead of moving or ignoring categorized topics, respectively.

Deleting a post vs deleting an entire comment tree
For context:
- Two big threadiverse implementors (and probably mbin) currently federate
Announce(Delete(Object))for deletion of content — all synchronized communities follow suit and delete the content as well. - If that object is the root-level node, and it is deleted, everything below it is also deleted.
- Lemmy and Piefed are investigating the possibility of changing this behaviour so that the action deletes the object itself only, and the reply tree stays.
