Today I am at the People’s House in Rågsved near Stockholm and serving my dark mild beer that I brewed about a month ago.

I have a website with the recipes to all the beers I’ve brewed, including this one.

https://exaltedbeer.wreede.se

I'm watching the Apartment Brewer bottling his Hefeweizen.

There is still sanitizer foam in the bottles when he fills the beer in.

I have also seen this in the videos of Sarah Flora.

Is this a thing when Americans make beer?

It blows my mind because I go though great lengths to remove all detergents and sanitizers from my brewing equipment before I use it.

Learned (at a garage sale) one of my neighbors has been experimenting with distilling, said he bought a "distillation kit", and now I am intrigued. (not that I drink spirits, but sounds fun anyway LOL) #homebrewing

Next step was to strain out the liquid. I had cleaned and sanitized a carboy earlier with Star San. Also an airlock. The cooked fruit goes in the compost (or flung out into the yard 🤪). It's a good thing I am doing this outdoors, I missed the carboy and spilled some everywhere. #homebrewing

I was just checking how my First Gold hop plants are doing when I spotted this comma butterfly sunning itself on the wall right next to them. And guess what its caterpillars like to eat.
Clue: it ain't egg-and-cress sandwiches........
More info in alt text.

Hop plants growing up a sunny wall. This is First Gold, a 'hedgerow' variety: that is, it only grows to 2-3 metres.

A comma butterfly, so called because of the white comma shaped mark on the underside of its wing. Its caterpillars love to munch on stinging nettles, which I don't mind, and hops, which I do mind!
A friend lost his whole hop crop to unidentified caterpillars last year.
