oh and portage has pissed me off too many times to count. i didn't realize how incredibly fucking half-assed the entire system of slots and multiple versions was. that's completely fucking inexcusable

@SRAZKVT it is clearly designed by people who have worked very hard on building other people's software. its lack of fully recursive configurability encodes a hierarchical model of distro packaging power. i trust @mgorny with my life. i do not trust the KDE maintainer team who makes wayland a hard requirement for konsole by misusing the subtle distinctions between X and X? and then justifies it in a forum post (not a commit message) by the logic that "it's quite unlikely for someone to use konsole without KDE plasma".
so i'm very serious about using chimera linux and just completely wiping my gentoo partitions. nothing at all of value will be lost
