@everton137 Yes, I met @FeloniousPunk last spring when I was back in PDX. I will need to come back to the US in March and intend to put the word out as I'm planning my travel to see if I can meet a few more, if they want. It's mostly long flights and there are a lot of different paths that I could take for the return.

@everton137 That's a tougher question than it seems. Does it count if we've probably met before at the same event (or just on IRC), but interacted more on fedi than elsewhere before physically saying "hi" the first time? Does it count if I'm joining an event of which I've learned through its announcements being boosted? Or does that only count if I'm talking to the concrete organizer who says "oh I'm glad people really read my toots and then come"?

Yes, there are (to my knowledge) four other people on here who support the same football team as I do (Tranmere Rovers). I have met three of these lovely people and would like to meet the fourth, but they live overseas, so unless they come over for a big game, that's unlikely

@everton137 Never. But I can tell why most people use FB and Whatsapp for that: FB has a strong and easy structure for local groups which are made to connect real local people. E.g. one of our villages has a protest action against a corrupt mayor and it's organised there because you reach all generations, professions, and families there.
I miss that structure here.

@everton137 In Latvia, we have had meetups in pubs quite a few times, one OpenStreetMap event, several cycling activities (the last one had five participants! 😊 ), and there's probably way more that I don't recall right now.
