For those of you who are familiar with Screen Walks, I'm happy to announce that the Screen Walks Archive has been deposited in Compost.cc. 🙂 🎉

Compost.cc is a project project by Zachary Furste and Diego Gómez-Venegas restoring discarded computing devices into servers that collectively preserve archives on a network that distributes files using custom software based on the BitTorrent protocol.

If you are not familiar with Screen Walks, it was was a collaborative project by The Photographers’ Gallery and Fotomuseum Winterthur investigating the changing role of the photographic image in its networked and digital forms. Artists, curators and researchers were invited to perform live-streamed explorations of the digital spaces where their core practice takes place. 86 online events and a Screen Walks Weekend in London took place between April 2020 and March 2025, during a time of intense and rich digital culture activity.

Screen Walks Archive (SWA) holds the recording of each event, along with other management, curatorial, and design files that might be interesting for researchers. By depositing the SWA on Compost.cc, Screen Walks keeps its experimental spirit by taking part in alternative preservation methodologies linked to permacomputing practices and communal networks.

A pioneering programme that began during the COVID-19 pandemic, Screen Walks was a series of 86 live-streamed walks through the digital spaces where artists, curators and researchers work, recorded between 2020 and 2025. @d1 thank you d1, I just want to clarify that I'm the custodian of the archive not the developer of Compost.cc but I'll get in touch with them regarding this.

I do wonder tho how reliable slopscan is, as I've seen several examples in which tools like this erroneusly flagged image/text/code as AI made

slopscan is reliable for what it can do (it is quite limited)

every commit listed in the slopscan score can be linked to a real commit in the compost.cc repository

you can paste the slopscan score commit into the url like the below example
