Not seen many hamsters on my last couple of visits to the cemetery in Meidling where I usually see them - only one or two per visit, though visibility does vary a lot by time of year, weather, etc.
They're as rewarding as ever to watch though. One of the most wonderfully cute bits of natural history you can find in this part of Europe.

Am seeing them for the first time. How often do you visit there?
@nuwagaba2 Varies a lot depending on travel and time of year: they are mostly absent Nov-Feb due to hibernation, in their active season I maybe average a visit a month in recent years, though fewer this year as I've been travelling more. If I spend an hour or two there, I tend to see something like 1-5 hamsters, though on a good day it can be double that, my best visit this year we saw twelve.

That's not bad, thanks for sharing because you gave an opportunity to people like me to be able to see it. These are the organisms I really can't bear seeing them get extinct. Are they only found in your country?
