Man, I do love when a show allocates about 4 pixels to the characters so you can see the Cool Architectural Background Art better
@halcy Scott McCloud has a whole aesthetic theory about sparse character art and sumptuous backgrounds. His idea is that a minimal/more caricatured character design makes it easier to identify with them, because your brain is contributing more, so to speak. It's in Understanding Comics somewhere.
this isn’t a joke I just care about background art a lot more than people art
one of my grandpas was a painter who painted pretty much only empty landscapes, almost never put people in them and pretty much did not do portraits (there is one of my grandma i know, but that is it). so I can claim it is hereditary.
he was not as much of a fan of strange and alien geometries, though. More actual landscapes from where he lived.
Parents gave me two of his paintings when we moved into this place. I do really love the way he did trees, even if I personally like art showing urban or weird stuff more.
Anyways, watching kamina botan fully blossoms when drunk; which is both a peak environment art show and also a peak sad girl yuri show
