End of c7. I took a 5th dup at the drop, a Frankie (Farmer/Rancher), cuz I'm heavy into ranching.
Now that the ladder's up near the top, I see my cool slush and cool salt slush geysers. I like that they're so close to the ladder.
There's a sugar biome up before we get to the cold subspace.
Hard to formulate a good plan for this odd shape.
My hatch ranches need 5 25x4 levels. My drecko design needs 2 27x4 levels. My bedroom plan needs 4 27x4 levels. Bathroom, hospital, water treatment, and rec room need 2 levels, and food prep and great hall need 2 levels.
Not gonna get all that w/o cracking into a caustic biome. I wanna see whats left of the upper left, and right of the upper right, before I make a plan.
Meanwhile, dig dig dig.

Note the blueprinted in ladder. That will be the final location. It'll be a pain to move it over, only three tiles away, but a minor one, and it gives me a nice advantage, a straight shot from space to magma, which pleases my OCD streak.
There's the current bathroom and great hall in the way, but they were always meant to be temp, anyway.
This will take a long time to get to, but here's my plan.
All levels are 27x4 internal. At the very top, 4 bedroom floors, 2x2 on either side of the ladder.
Continuing down on the left, food prep, great hall, research, massage & rec room, materials storage.
Continuing down on the right, bathroom & nature reserve, water cleaning & hospital, two levels of drecko ranch. Then 4 hatch ranches, and the evolution level at the bottom.
The key insight: with the ladder a few spaces left of its current location, the top hatch ranch can incorporate the printer, and we'll do a whole new research area with all four stations.
So, the first step is to localize the water. That will be at the very bottom in an infinistore, for which I need some research.
Meanwhile, dig dig dig, cuz we don't have stable food yet.
c18. That took a while, but the ladder is mostly moved, the infinistore is ready for the last priming.
Along the way, we moved the temporary outhosues to a new temporary location, moved the great hall to its final location, and all the cots up to final location but temporary arrangement.
Once the water starts draining, the next priority is clear: stabilize food supply.
c22. Not much to see, just yet. But the water's nearly finished draining, and we've cleared much of the hatch ranching area.
Food is *tight*, we may wind up making some of the dreaded mush bars. That's okay, we'll catch up soon enough.
Food. I see two main sources for the long haul: bbq, but that's very slow to develop, berry sludge, equal to bbq, but it'll be a while, cuz we gotta penetrate the ice biomes for sleet wheat.
But. Spoze we start with Gristle Berry?
c28. I rushed like hell to lay in a dozen bristle blossoms. I generally don't like using the starting water for irrigation, so I cracked the slime biome on the upper right and am water sieving ph2o for irrigation. (This will eventually overheat, but hopefully by then I'll have another solution.)
Now I want to crack the ice biomes to collect wild sleet wheat for berry sludge.
c35. Two of the three ice biomes are cracked, and we've got a modest but steady supply of berry sludge coming.
Some good news: 4 wheezeworts, so I won't have to do a shine bug reactor for radiation research.
The next problem is power. As the picture shows, I'm building the right-hand wall, cuz I'm about to crack that caustic biome to the right, where I'll set up my coal gens.
