There's always chefs on telly around this time giving their top tips on making Christmas dinner. Here's mine.... don't worry about it. Do your prep. Listen to some banging tunes, dance and sing. Make a list. Check it twice. Do your timings. They'll all be wrong. You'll probably forget something. At least one thing will go wrong. Noone will notice or care so don't mention it. Get your potatoes right. They're all anyone cares about. You could serve a bunch of rubbish but the whole thing hinges on your potatoes. Love your potatoes. Make sure at least one is really terrific then take a photo of it and send it to your family and friends as a power play. If anyone responds with a better potato, ghost that person forever. You are the superior potato person now.

@TheBreadmonkey King Edwards FTW, although they have been scarce in the shops this year for some reason. 🥔

@TheBreadmonkey A fellow potatian! I secretly believe that the One Ring was a perfect potatoe that Frodo just couldn‘t part with. LOTR just makes more sense that way. Of course I will now delete this post without sending.

@TheBreadmonkey A couple of years ago, we tried to do turkey, etc. On the day, it smelled really bad and we didn’t want to risk it. Ended up making burritos which the kids enjoyed more than they would have the turkey. Had burritos again the following year. So yeah… don’t stress, improvise, and enjoy.

@TheBreadmonkey That bit about the importance of the potato is both absolutely true and suspiciously Irish. 👨‍🦰🤔

@TheBreadmonkey Tell me about your favourite potato.

Mine are crispy roasted potatoes fresh from the oven, but that isn't happening this time of year and air fryers won't cut it (sorry, air fryer proponents, but it's just not the same).

Same. I use the AF for juggling, but the only way I've ever done great roasties in there is over a period of hundreds of years of low and slow. What are you having for dinner tomorrow?!

@TheBreadmonkey looks like you'll be getting mentioned in many photos of spuds tomorrow. Definitely mine for starters.
I do not have an ancient, handed-down method. They will,.of course, be lovingly roasted and ready at the correct time. Good cooking is just timing from what i can tell.
