@neil Been buying print books for some months, from a variety of sources.
Got rid of Amazon. Approx 25% of deliveries didn't arrive. Drivers "verified" delivery with photos of packages at someone else's doorway. Amazon kept demanding I send them a photo of my front door. Nope.
@neil I'm a bit of a StoryBundle addict, and also pick up books and comics on Humble Bundle. Though bundles from the latter are sometimes redeemed through Kobo (which I'm not massively keen on) rather than DRM-free downloads.
@neil hey, amazon is super convenient for paper books though!
I often use it to look up the ISBN that i then tell my local bookshop to order.

I also jailbroke my Clara as soon as I got it, and sideload everything.

bookshop.org not only do ebooks now, but they also let you filter on DRM Free.

@neil I've read loads of free books from kobo. Most are the start of a series and it's led to some good finds that I've bought more of.
I need to look more at authors websites and load into the Kobo. I gave away my kindle. (After downloading all the books I'd bought and stripping the drm and converting them to add to the Kobo obviously)
@neil I prefer DRM free too. I can put them on my Remarkable which doesn't support drm.
@neil pretty much same tactics, itch.io and gumroad had some, I got some from kickstarters, but had to kobo a chunk
@neil Definitely this! Almost all the ebooks I bought this year were crowdfunded by authors here on fedi.
