Here's a thing I believe based on no evidence - anti-drone systems for high value targets will be pretty straightforward.
(Yes, I kind of want to build a tiny anti-aircraft system, seems like fun.)
(We shoot them with small, high density passive warheads (bullets), that part is - in concept - done.)
Forget the drone for a moment - find and destroy its operator.

No doubt. Russia has a drone unit named Rubicon, pours money and talent into it, they're the best supplied unit Russia has - and they are Counting Coup, as our Native American warriors used to say. Greatly feared.
Shooting down a drone comes with its own perils - the drone winks out, the enemy now understands where to look for the shooter.

@CartyBoston Try Raspberry Pi with OpenCV for drone detection. Keeps it simple and cheap.
@rgo I have abandoned Pis after taking them seriously for years, now I buy old min-PCs on ebay, they are super flexible and have some horsepower.
But we'll raise VC money and use "money is no object" hardware, I am serious about the fun part.
