@twcau GLP1s are a higher anaesthesia risk than obesity?

@decryption I’d prefer not to mess up an Anaesthetists’ day with a risk of aspiration during a procedure, or a procedural deferral https://www.anzca.edu.au/getContentAsset/0f35028e-e371-4220-a49a-ddee877051c8/80feb437-d24d-46b8-a858-4a2a28b9b970/Clinical-Practice-Recommendations-Periprocedural-GLP-1RA-use-Apr-2025.pdf

@twcau “24-hour clear fluid diet, followed by standard 6-hour fasting, should be recommended for all patients receiving GLP-1 RAs and GLP-1/GIPRAs” - that doesn’t sound too bad. The reason I started on GLP1 was because I was too fat for an operation, the surgeon said the risk of anaesthesia at 165kg is worse than the gallstone I had. Being on a GLP1 but at 100kg is much less risky than being 165kg and trying to safely sedate me.
