@anneapplebaum As an American, i am deeply disappointed in our limited support of Ukraine. This "peace deal" is no deal for Ukraine. This war needs to end. But, Russia needs to be held to account for the invasion and ALL war crimes.

@anneapplebaum it is clear by now that Trump is a businessman and corporate 'whore' and his policies reflect that without a doubt. So why be surprised by a 'peace deal' like this? In his mind, anything to do with human rights, freedom and sovereignty is 'just bullshit', unless he can make money out of it. I hope Zelensky won't agree to it. New elections? That would be the end of Ukraine. Look how Russians try to spread their influence e.g in South Africa via BRICS. Putin knows no bounds.

@anneapplebaum Sadly, the main problem is that Russians do not really wanti to negotiate. I doubt they find even the current proposal unacceptable and continue rambling all about "the special military operation will reach every goal"
And the current level of support for Ukraine will not change the situation in the coming years if the war will continue. It will still be a slow bleedout of both sides.

How about the decades of American willful violation of international law - is that something that should be addressed to improve relations with Europe?

NATO was famously made "to keep the Americans in, the Soviets out, and the Germans down". Its extension past the Cold War is obviously a mistake, and breaking down. Killing more Ukrainians won't change that.
