Oh, joy. Upgrading #LineageOS on my phone failed, and now I can't find a way of either rolling back to an older version or completing the upgrade. And everything I've tried so far has made it worse...

@david_chisnall

Factory reset.

Check you have the REQUIRED Android version installed.

Try again.

...if the phone isn't 'bricked', you'll get there.

If anyone might be able to help, it's a OnePlus 9 Pro (lemonadep), and the error was:

Error applying update: 5 (ErrorCode::kPostinstallRunnerError)
ERROR: recovery: Error in /sideload/package.zip (status 5)

Looking in /tmp/recovery.log, there are a couple of lines that look worrying. These are the bits during the post-install script:

@david_chisnall From the logs seems that your recovery image is broken.

@vincenzo Hmm, the recovery image was fine. I did a wipe from recovery and reinstall and that seemed to work.

@david_chisnall I suppose that since you are running #LinageOS you rooted your device 😊 so what you could try is reboot in fastboot mode, erase the partitions and write them again. Fastboot mode can be reached with a key combination like vol+ + power button when device is switched off. Depends on the device. Then there is a utility on your PC that comes with the android sdk that allows you to do operations. This utility is called fastboot as well. Hope this helps 🙂
