I feared this day would come:

Trump puts human rights organisations on sanctions list and forces YouTube to delete their accounts, thereby erasing 700 videos documenting Israeli war crimes.

As a political commentator on YouTube, this news is profoundly troubling for me. And yes, I clearly need a plan B.

https://theintercept.com/2025/11/04/youtube-google-israel-palestine-human-rights-censorship/

The Intercept

YouTube Quietly Erased More Than 700 Videos Documenting Israeli Human Rights Violations

The tech giant deleted the accounts of three prominent Palestinian human rights groups — a capitulation to Trump sanctions.

@randahl Maybe take a look at how https://latenightlinux.com/, https://www.404media.co/ or https://risky.biz/ finance their work.
All the shows under the Latenight Linux umbrella have homemade, curated adverts promoting products related to the show's topic. Like 404, you can get advert-free access if you pay a monthly fee.

Risky.biz uses a different approach. The Soapbox: In the second half, which is clearly separated, the host talks to a CEO about the latest advancements in their product.

Well, yes,
anyone who sits down at Trumpy's dinner table and expects favors from him in order to become even richer,
should be allowed to make such a small deletion,
no matter what the reasons are.

It belongs to them and they can do what they want with it.
Goodbye freedom of speech.

This world is going to hell in a handbasket.

Happy german discussions. Time to donate for resilient European Peertube and Loops instaces and build stable communities.

Aside from the obvious response of switching to an open video-sharing platform for one's own posts, there must be consequences for warcrime collaboration and complicity by Google and all others so complicit. The impunity by big tech for their part in war crimes; crimes against humanity; and the fomenting, amplifying, & reinforcing of whitenationalist global tyranny has to end right now.

@randahl That's (partly) why I asked you about PeerTube presence. At least as an automatic mirror (backup for you also), of what you post on Youtube. That's an already working option we all have. Surely smaller audience but growing. And anyways, how do we know Youtube reports are legit, or if 80% traffic there ain't bots? Right now you put a massive $$ difference to acces your content on Youtube vs Patronite (i think it was). That way you're channeling your viewers toward Youtube yourself.

Brian Tyler Cohen has prepared for such a case. In expectation to be cut off youtube somehow, he has a mailing list for example to be able to reach his followers once this might happen.

Maybe he has more alternatives/platform ideas - since I am no contend creator I didn't pay attention to this topic.

Potentially controversial* material that someone would likely report to YT moderators can be posted on other platforms, with links on your YT channel
