Has anyone succeeded in getting the #Android app for #Gmail to send images?

I have googled my way to many sets of instructions, but they all leave me with any image-attached emails permanently queued in the outbox due to lack of permissions. My workaround is to save the email as a draft with no attachments, then switch over to the Gmail web client to attach images, but that's a bit of a PITA. #GmailAndroid

I'd really appreciate any help from anyone who has found a fix.
