The book's initial concept: “Central conflict is characters being annoying and ridiculous.” A cozy polyamorous fantasy romance with no villains, no battles, no epic struggles. Instead: regular people dealing with one another's foibles.
It's over-the-top gentle and low-conflict, with characters resolving their issues through earnest communication.
Zendzu-ksto, the city-state setting for A Wolf-Shifter's Pack (polyam rom-com! out now: https://books2read.com/wolfshifterspack), has four different species: elfs, goblins, dragons, and city-spirits (also shifters, but they're more like a race than a species).
City-spirits came out of the idea "what if dryad, but urban?" Connected to their particular building, city-spirits are humanoids with a resemblance to the other sapient species and also reflecting elements of their building.
