Why doesn't HA doesn't include Z-Wave support in it's core? e.g. *without* using an Addon? It seems like such a small detail but I've just learned that any "dockerized" server that runs HA *cant* load Addons.
I realize there are ways around this but they are a bit tedious and technical. The whole point of these docker based solutions is that they are so easy to spin up (and there are many to choose from)
I was just hoping a docker based solution was going to be easy.
Maybe it's because the Open Home Foundation, the foundation behind Home Assistant, wants to ensure that drivers like Z-Wave are developed separately from Home Assistant itself, keeping them open and accessible to everyone. 1/2
@scottjenson I've been running HA in Docker for years, and have z-wave working out of the box 🤔 the only requirement is to pass your /dev/device for the z-wave radio into docker, install z-wave inside integrations, works great.
