Experiencing the electoral system as a #GPEW campaigns officer makes you realise just how much it is built around and relies on pensioners, and how that in itself creates a massive right-wing bias. Interesting. I was an electoral agent back in the 1980s, for Labour, and it wasn't like that at all - in fact I don't recall any of our canvassers etc being elderly.
It has also become very evident recently that protesters are ageing - eg. Palestine Action supporters - which I also assume is down to more free time, less to lose...
