With a relay, the instance admin decides whether to connect, if they refuse, we get nothing, even from users who consent to indexing. By following users directly, we rely on the settings they've already chosen for their account: indexable, unlocked, no #nobot.

In the end, we act like any regular Fediverse instance, we just follow people.
