Our very own Garden Teahouse is just across the road from Ryōan-ji.
Although the building is over 100 years old, there has been a property on this site for well over 500 years, residence of the head family that oversaw Ryōan-ji's 'parish'.

In order to preserve the old building and promote Kyōto's traditional culture we were asked by Kyōto city and the family (the same family that acted as 'village heads' after Ryōan-ji's establishment) to become caretakers.
It is a lovely place to work🥰

Kinukake-no-michi ends (or begins) at the 'Golden Pavilion' (金閣寺).
Kinkaku-ji, reliquary hall of Rokuon-ji (鹿苑寺), was the last remaining piece of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu's sprawling 'Kitayama Palace' (北山殿). The original was burnt down in 1950.
