@aslakr
Saw someone mention this:
Why why why would a european social network use the Elon Musk X-letter naming scheme for their network??
The people behind https://wsocial.eu etc seems to have a session now at January 21st at 12 CET https://www.wedonthavetime.org/events/davos2026#20260121-davos-information-integrity and it seems very much that W Social and We Don't Have Time AB is more or less the same.
I guessing W Social will be based on We Don't Have Time horrible slow plattform. Based on infrastructure from Cloudflare, Google etc.
#WSocial #WSocialEU #WSocialAB #WeDontHaveTime #Davos #Davos2026
And skimming through their discussion from Davos on Youtube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV4z2H7yFIE, it seems like W Social:
- Won't ban accounts.
- Only «real» names. I guess based in bank id etc.
- Bots are not OK?
- Filtering and moderation using AI.
- They have their primary domain (wsocial.eu) at a Finnish company. (But fonts, tracking, css etc seems to be at whatever)

@aslakr it's looking like they could be using Bluesky's code for this based on "leaked screenshots" and there being a PDS at https://pds-prod.wsocial.eu/
Don't know how that will work with their ID and real name requirements. One option would be that it is entirely separate but one of the supposed screenshots seems to show a @verge post and a post by @queerash.wsocial.eu (same as queerash.bsky.social) from Bluesky with same comment/boost/like counts.

In theory, that means using their ATProto protocol too. Making wsocial.eu much less horrific than it looks from @aslakr's description, since people will be able to interact with accounts there without using their questionable infrastructure. Question is, are they running a Relay, and maybe an AppView, or just hosting PDS?
