Relatively major culture-maker Boing Boing is running the headline:

COVID pandemic enters seventh year with no end in sight

and the article is not ableist, not bullshit, not denying reality. Nice!

COVID pandemic enters seventh year with no end in sight

It's strange to think that the COVID-19 pandemic, which sent the world into lockdown seven years ago never ended. It continues to kill and cripple us, to this day. We…

#Pandemic is over

It's … actually #endemic is local … so it's #PanEndemic

I wish my country could have stayed in our bubble

But the #SafelyReopen massacre killed over 20,000

@kmpiw @datum There were 15 flu-related deaths in the US last week but COVID deaths are still running at about 300/week so I'm not sure about your definition of pandemic.

@timjclevenger @kmpiw Endemicity and pandemicity are not based on death rates.

Endemic means particular to a subset of geography or people.

Pandemic means a human- infectious disease with global spread.

COVID-19 is very much still definitionally a pandemic.

Canada and the USA and many other nations have politically declared the political state of emergency to have ended.

A political state of emergency has nothing to do with whether a disease is pandemic.

Note that the HIV pandemic is decades old and ongoing, if you need a comparison to help you see. No serious epidemiologist would say that HIV isn't still a pandemic; no un-politicized epidemiologist would say that SARS-CoV-2 is not still a pandemic.
