@GroupNebula563

Sorry to hear this.

Please can you let us know which bots you've seen that display this behaviour so that we can work out the difference?

We want to make our Channels better but we've yet to find a solution to this issue.

@welshpixie @fediphoto bot creator here, I was totally unaware of this. I’m using channel.org which lets you set up your own relays to boost specific tags, and I figured the service would filter out accounts tagged with that (as any good bot ought to). this is sadly beyond my control, I would take it up with @newsmast as they’re the proprietors of the service

@GroupNebula563 @welshpixie @fediphoto

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. We're really glad to see you're using our Channels.

Our Channels cannot read the bios of accounts. This is because it wouldn't be appropriate and they're not intelligent in any way, they just pull together a curated feed!

If a user posts with #nobot, the post shouldn't be picked up. If this is happening, then there's a bug somewhere.

As the creator, we'd ask that you mute anyone who doesn't want to be featured in the Channel (and maybe add your details to the bio so people know how to reach out to you).

Hope that helps! If not, feel free to reach out to us at support@newsmast.org

@newsmast every fedi bot respects the nobot hashtag in bios, this is solely a you problem. it’s veritably fedi convention at this point and I am disappointed with this response. please do better.

@newsmast essentially every bot that interacts with or boosts people will check for the #NoBot tag in a user’s bio before doing so. I can’t think of any off the top of my head but it shouldn’t be too hard to find one

@GroupNebula563

If you come across one please let us know.

In the meantime, we developed a system where users had to manually follow accounts in order to feature them in a Channel. This way, the human user can choose who is in a Channel.

I can see on your Channel you've followed a number of hashtag relays.

Unfortunately, our Channels are intended to be used with a designated Channel hashtag - to prevent this issue.

Channels are still in beta so there's a lot we can improve, including making this clearer.

For now, we'll remove the hashtag relays you've featrured in the Channel.
