Question:

Who here is working to improve their local community?

Who here is taking on political action other than demanding stuff from politicians?

---

I know @ajroach42 has a local media empire in New Ellijay.

I'm heavily involved in a local Repair Cafe helping others keep their electronics for longer, & I have a leadership role in an organization which helps fund & promote that amongst other such activities in my city.

You?

@alcinnz @ajroach42 I do weekly collections for my local community fridge and occasionally make the tea at one of our repair cafes.

I'm also building a community directory so that others can find out about these things and get more involved!

@alcinnz Some mutual aid things around town.

I should probably dust off my soldering skills and get spooled up on electrical engineering.

We collect food waste from the supermarkets in town and distribute it to the community.
Also we run a small library of things! You can find the software we use here: https://code.aber-ehub.org.uk/thingell/dir?ci=tip&type=tree

I’m involved in community gardens a restoration group and a cycling forum. Although I’ve found it’s hard to get community buy in to work together in our town. People are willing to participate but it often feels like groups of individuals rather than communities.
