@thomasfuchs that receiver is BEAUTIFUL!
@thomasfuchs autostalgia, or selfstalgia ?
@thomasfuchs It's a beautiful piece and if you resemble it your old folks did a pretty good job.
@thomasfuchs what kind of tape does that take?
@zrail normal cassette tapes, i don't think it does anything fancy like dolby, different cassette types or auto-reverse
damn, its also a tape deck! I didn't even notice, I'm too distracted by the dials and gauges!
I had a writing teacher who said - if you want to write a story about the past or the future, look at its technology. The people will be pretty much the same.
@thomasfuchs
There are forever chemicals, and this one.
@thomasfuchs you’re into vacuum tubes? Core memory?
@thomasfuchs that would still be a decent receiver today (although it probably cost as much as a used car back then)
@vfrmedia fwiw a working one goes for like $1,500+ on eBay (if you're lucky and someone sells one)
@thomasfuchs I didn't realize I was so much older than you. 😃
@thomasfuchs There’s a German word for it:
Entstehungsjahrtechnikwehmut
Ok, I just made that up but I think it’s pretty spot on.
