It's December 2nd, which means that for the next 23 days, there's a high probability that you will encounter the classic film A Christmas Story broadcast on TV or streaming services.
One of the plot points in the film concerns decrypting a radio message from Orphan Annie's Secret Society, which was based on a real radio program of the era.

@mattblaze I am 67 years old and have never seen A Christmas Story (nor have I seen Home Alone or that Bruce Willis movie that the Brits just voted to say: nope, not an xmas movie). I still feel like my life is pretty complete 😉
@mattblaze thanks for that. I've heard of "secret decoder rings" and even their basic idea but was a good read to get the details. I didn't actually know they did a different one each year, wonder if that left "old" Ovaltine on the shelves?
