My confident corvid identification might be mistaken btw. I am notoriously bad at remembering which is which, but I did try to check.

Also met this jackdaw in the same tree. Less delighted, more thoughtful. Contemplating the passing of the seasons, no doubt.

A photo of a jackdaw, squat and grey feathered, lit by bright sun light, in the midst of thin branches of a nearly leafless autumn tree on a thicker branch covered in lichen. It is gazing up to the top left, beak raised, eye bright.

Side note about the rook. After it had spent some time gazing into the tree top and the sky beyond with a look of wonder in its eyes, it turned to me and my camera with disdain. I swear it was channeling the Teenager - this is the exact stare they give me when I take too many photos 😆

A photo of a rook (head and shoulders) looking directly to camera , giving me a resigned stare.

Just found one last photo I should have included in yesterday's Corvid Appreciation Thread. Such a sleek beast.

A photo of a crow perched on a tree branch, with blurred autumnal leaves and blue sky behind, bent down to nibble on some food held in its claws.
