That would be worth the money spent, without having to deal with malfunctions not caught during the manufacturing stage and products rushed to market (glaring at asus ROG, sound is output only, network and USB routed via USB, SATA ports are also USB, LED components detected as keyboards/mice).

@cwebber My observation: Most people who stick with Linux on the desktop are adventurists who like to brag that they got the OS working on a shiny, mass market device. Bonus points if they have a reason to wail about "oh noes, nvidia" in forums for 10 months before they get graphics working.

IMO, Mediatek deserves some real love from FOSS enthusiasts but I never hear a peep. This kind of cultural problem is never examined.

@cwebber is this open hardware or "open" hardware? cuz having a laptops and other mobile devices with open standards for which others can make parts would be great

@cwebber Sadly, without support for today's software (and yes, I'm talking about x86-64 CPUs), MNT will remain extremely niche. Don't get me wrong, I do like what they are doing. But what's the point right now if most people can't run many applications commonly used on it?
