@edbott This is a really good article! You've done a really great job of articulating what's wrong in Redmond nowadays. Microsoft's slide away from putting the user at the front and center of the Windows user experience and that erosion of empathy is honestly what killed my ability to enjoy or even tolerate using Microsoft products anymore. I know you've got an absolute wealth of knowledge and experience with Windows over the decades you've been covering them in tech journalism, and I might be misinterpreting your comment at the end of the article... but I'm curious why even with things being in the state that they are today, you don't seem interested in exploring other desktop operating systems? I mean, Linux certainly isn't without it's own, unique issues, but there's truly a LOT to like on the other side of the fence nowadays. I know I'd really enjoy hearing your opinions about what modern Linux distros can bring to the table for those who might feel apprehensive about switching, as well as what you view as pain points.

@edbott Not gonna lie, it’s the main reason I daily drive Fedora now. Work will always be a MS shop, and MS almost listens to my $40 with B company…almost.
