🚨 Cyberbullying affects 1 in 6 adolescents in the EU.

That’s why we’ve launched a public consultation + call for evidence as part of our new Action Plan against cyberbullying, due in 2026.

@EUCommission

Chatcontrol also affects everyone, the only thing you're contributing to is that you make cyberbullying worse and increase the chances of it happening constantly. Also most victims can't get help if you decide to scan and dox everyones informations to the public meaning you also deny actual (cyber-)bullying victims any help they need and you also decrease the psychological wellbeing of victims. Maybe think before you post, because this makes you look like a bunch of hypocrites.

@EUCommission Tackling cyberbullying is important. Just please don't try to solve problems old as humanity with Orwellian technological solutions.

@EUCommission your linked website refers to a publication on the ”guidelines on the protection of minors“ under the DSA [1] which is supposed to be applied to all online platforms accessible to minors.

It recommendations include: ”Prohibiting accounts from downloading or taking screenshots of content posted by minors to prevent the unwanted distribution of sexualised or intimate content and sexual extortion.“

Question: how is this supposed to be implemented?

@EUCommission as always what we really need is not a plan *against* cyberbullying, but a plan to *prevent* cyberbullying. Otherwise it would not solve the problem: it would only create new problems, like the chat control proposal would do.

Penalize is never the answer: education is the answer.

@dpdmancul, thanks for raising this. Indeed, education is a key tool to combat cyberbullying. With our Action Plan, we aim to build a comprehensive, inclusive, and effective strategy to combat cyberbullying across the EU as part of our responsibility to make the online world a safer and empowering environment for young people. The Action Plan is complementary to the measures already taken by us to protect and empower minors online under the Digital Services Act (DSA).
