Trying to do a bit of a research into the total cost of running your own ATProto architecture (not planning to do that, just curious), and came across this Bluesky network map. Interesting.

@stefan you know how when you purchase a new VPS you can sometimes pick between a Linux distro OR pre-installed apps? Well, #Hostinger has #Bluesky in the app section. I did not pursue it but found it interesting...
a screenshot from Hostinger's VPS purchasing page where you are asked to pick between a Linux distro and apps... and there is an option for Bluesky in the apps section that reads: "Build on Ubuntu 22.04
Bluesky is a decentralized social media platform built on the AT Protocol, giving users control over their data and online experience. It enables interoperability, transparency, and algorithmic choice for a more open and user-driven network."

Also interesting to catch up on #FreeOurFeeds. Remember them?

"Free Our Feeds wants to raise $30 million over three years, and has an immediate goal of $4 million to hire a small team and build independent infrastructure."

https://techcrunch.com/2025/01/13/free-our-feeds-campaign-aims-to-billionaire-proof-blueskys-tech/

They're at $211,030 right now.

Also interesting to compare that with Blacksky's ~ 73k annual budget, seemingly achieving the same goals.
