Have you heard of the 3-30-300 🌳 rule?

Everyone should be able to:

🌲 See at least 3 trees from their home
🌳 Have 30% tree canopy cover in their neighbourhood
🍃 Live within 300 metres of a high-quality green space

Trees help us cool down our towns in the summer, improve air quality and regulate the water cycle.

That’s why The EU Biodiversity Strategy commits to planting at least 3 billion additional trees in the EU by 2030.

Cool, can we also ban clear cutting? Trees take decades to grow, stop cutting the ones that are already here.

Isn't it kinda crazy how the EU has an official Mastodon account but wants to use a Google API for age verification that in turn makes any FOSS app stores unusable?

@EUCommission The number 3 has a much more important meaning and represents a far older rule in human existence compared to the modern strategy based on these older rules.

Not happening in Melbourne Australia now that permits to build 10-20 storey highrises are being given out like smarties to overseas developers.
Concrete is clearly the most valuable commodity.

@EUCommission I have 6 small trees in my back garden & 1 rather larger one in the front

They're all fruit trees

2 apple, 2 plum, 1 cherry, 1 nectarine & an Arbutus unedo (strawberry tree), this is the first year they've all borne fruit

@EUCommission If this is not a clear regulation/law no developer will implement this-no money in trees, but plenty of money in building substandard concrete boxes that they charge rent of 2/3 of an averge salary.

@EUCommission You know what would give space for trees to be planted?

Taking away space for cars!

Rely on trams and bikes for mobility and you can have all the trees you want, less people complaining about the mess they make and a healthier population.
