In the face of the US Treasury and State Department's recent designation of the Autistici / Inventati collective as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity, Kolektiva declares our full, unequivocal support to our Italian comrades, and to all those who seek to protect our movements from the clutches of states, surveillance capitalists, and other agents of social control.
Today, as we bear witness to the rise of authoritarian and fascist regimes all around the world, supporting independent and autonomous digital infrastructure has become more important than ever. Anarchist, anti-authoritarian and autonomous movements have centuries of experience fighting and resisting state repression, whatever scope, shape or tactic it has assumed. Today is just another of those moments.
Yet despite the many ways that the State's attacks have adapted and evolved over the years, one thing remains the same: the most effective resistance has always been rooted in collective and international solidarity! Our networks are deep and wide. We're always two or three people away from being in contact with any collective anywhere in the world. And that's where our strength lies.
This is a call for material and practical solidarity with the fantastic people from Autistici / Inventati, but it is also a broader call for political groups and collectives to redouble our efforts to build resilient networks of autonomous infrastructure, and to properly maintain and support them over time.
We need to be creative. Even if we don't all have the specific technical skills to code or maintain network infrastructure, the time to volunteer as a moderator, or the money to help cover operating costs, we probably have the skills to throw a party, a music festival, or a community BBQ to raise money and build support for an autonomous tech project that we rely on.
Each of us must take care to avoid the pitfalls of disillusionment and complacency. We must remember that even where there's a calm between storms, we remain at war with the life-destroying logic of capitalism and the states that uphold it. And as long as we resist exploitation, oppression, and the destruction of the world that gives us life, those states will seek to crush us. So we need to be prepared.
We strongly encourage all those who see the value in building and maintaining autonomous tech infrastructure to provide whatever material support you can to those collectives who find themselves in the State's crosshairs today - such as Autistici / Inventati - or those other tech collectives who may be in their crosshairs tomorrow.
As we wait to learn the best ways to help Austici / Inventati in their fight against the Trump regime's efforts to isolate them and cut them off from networks of financial and material support, we would hope that comrades around the world take this opportunity as a reminder to support the other tech collectives that exert so much (often voluntary) effort to help keep our movements safe.

For reasons my retirement has been paused and I took work with an Inuit owned construction company currently building a 12 plex apartment. And soon a daycare. It’s 10 hour days, six days a week. Following that it’s make supper and then work on the workshop. And some family time before bed.
