A lot of the doomer comments I'm getting basically boil down to "WHAT IF VOTING DOESN'T MATTER ANY MORE???!!". Well, it better matter, because it's all you've got. And convincing you that it doesn't is exactly what the fascists would love nothing more than to do. (And you can be damn sure THEY'LL be voting).

@ramsey I wouldn’t say I ordered from Allbirds regularly, but I’ve had a few pairs over the years.

In the last few years, Olukai has become a favorite of mine. Styles are different from Allbirds, but they do well to match the light and breathable aspects in a lot of their shoes. I’ve got three different pairs of various Olukai styles and I’ve got my eye on a fourth (to replace a different brand pair that’s close to wearing out).

Plenty of retailers carry Olukai shoes, so I’ve mostly been able to buy them in person. But in my experience they run about the same size all Allbirds.

Yanomami healthcare: staff and funding have tripled, but services remain inadequate

"On June 21, voters in Roraima went to the polls in special elections to decide on replacements for Antonio Denarium and his vice governor, Edilson Damião, who was also removed from office. The winning ticket—with 60.9% of the votes—was formed by Arthur Henrique, who was mayor of Boa Vista, and former city councilmember Subtenente Velton, both members of the Bolsonaro family’s Liberal Party. Henrique was elected governor even though Roraima’s Regional Electoral Court had rejected his candidacy because he failed to meet the legal deadline for stepping down from public office, in this case, that of mayor. The deadline is six months before the election, and he resigned on April 2. His inauguration now depends on a decision by the Superior Electoral Court.

In a state with a large Indigenous population, but where the non-Indigenous elites erect statues to glorify gold mining and would rather see the Forest leveled than remain standing, ensuring the Yanomami people’s right to health care is a tremendously difficult challenge. When this is compounded by the fact that the spread of disease and the lack of healthcare agents in the villages has become a lucrative business for a portion of these same elites, the scale of the challenge increases—and significantly so. The ones who pay with their lives are the Yanomami—especially the children of these original peoples. This outrage must end."
