"Pegasus training material describes situations where it may not be possible to attack a target directly, for example if they do not use a smartphone or are highly security conscious in how they use their device. In those circumstances, NSO Group suggests expanding to 'close-circle infection,' targeting others connected to the target, potentially including colleagues, friends or family members of the primary target in order to gather information about them indirectly."

There have been several documented cases of this happening, including to people close to murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Yes, I agree. Many people have a fairly instinctive dislike of Big Tech and aren't happy with the service they get, or worry about privacy. But they won't change without an easily available alternative.

Pero los Centros de Datos no pararán, tienen contratos de preferencia de energía. Aunque las personas y otras industrias no tengan energía.

Este fenómeno se conoce como Gentrificación Energética (Libertson et al), y es ya frecuente en aquellos lugares con concentración de Centros de Datos.

Las industrias que hoy se están echando la mano a la cabeza por lo que ha supuesto el parón, deberían estar presionando para evitar la aprobación de nuevos centros de datos.

Hm, I've got 6 VMs running (with different properties, e.g. trusted vs. not, actual git directory vs. not, git.exe installed vs. not) and have yet to see a git.exe launch from the project directory.

Note that these are all click-through-the-installer installs on a clean Win11 VM. No optional features, no github integration, etc.

We'll see what happens at the 30-minute mark.

@alxd @tinker you know the one big GPL kernel is the one falling down this rabbit hole, and the BSDs are the ones saying "hell no" to it, right? You know the emacs project pre-emptively forked because they don't trust GNU to set good policy after the temporary hold, right?

The four freedoms way of thinking has always been too libertarian to meet these kind of moments, and they're squatting the term "free software," which means that if we want a movement that actually addresses the inherent political nature of software, we need new language - which is hard, but we can at least not divert credit to the exact people fumbling the topic of AI right now.
