@deutrino Push on iOS essentially always has to go through APS on Apple platforms, there is no way around that. The difference is that Push is usually bound to apps. But w/ CalDAV Push you have the situation where the app is a generic app like Apple Calendar.app, but 3rd party servers can still push to it.
Either way, the mechanism isn't Apple specific IIRC, it just provides the endpoints to register push subscribers and such. I suspect it might make sense to just use this mechanism, not sure.
