A Very Lonely Caterpillar, Possibly the Last of Its Kind, Has Died
YOU GUYS!! We live on a planet where the perfect combination of chemistry, atmospheric temperature and pressure, and geometry means that this ridiculously beautiful thing just HAPPENS sometimes!!!
Earth is so damn neat! We have the best planet!
The new EHRC guidance on trans people's access to services and facilities is so fucking stupid.
I'm so disappointed in this country (yet again), and I'm so angry for everyone whose life is made even more difficult because of this through no fault of their own.
And all because arseholes always need someone less powerful than them to blame for their own problems.
Solidarity ❤️ 🏳️⚧️ ⚧️
The whole thing has made angry and depressed. I will carry on doing all the things I’ve always done, and try to deal with any shit should it crop up. It's my trans siblings who don’t have my privilege I worry about.

Cool! We're curious to see what Vivaldi has in store next... 🔍
@vivaldi should include Kagi as one of the available search engines, isn't it?

I rarely look at the weather so today I thought, hmm, it was a bit warm yesterday. I wonder if it will be warm again today?
And what I discovered is that we're entering the "hotter than hell" season of spring for the next couple of weeks.
yey
@bagder seems likely there will be a wave for awhile and then a strong tail off as the AI new findings diminish?
@relistan yes indeed. The big question is only for how long the wave is going to last, and how high the tidal wave is...
Why new grads are booing commencement speakers: There's an 'ambient anxiety that AI is going to make things dramatically worse'
Recent commencement speakers including Google's Eric Schmidt have been booed for praising AI and encouraging students to use it as they embark on their careers.

Tbf, this is the same party that dedicated thirty years to economic liberalism as a means of fixing the problems caused by economic liberalism, so there's at least a degree of consistency.
@ReggieHere Yeah but unless they just straight up lie, this is Blairism 3.0 (or is it 4.0 at this poiint?) and that won't sell.

one of these vulns to be announced is also the new record holder for the oldest vuln ever found in curl...

"Introduce yourself with 10 bands you've seen live" is actually "Here's how old I am, with a riddle" 🤔
Trans Finder is so popular that it literally CRASHED my Mastodon instance for several hours
I'm unemployed and REALLY need money so uuuuhhh
If I said "send me like, $5 or something on Ko-Fi" would folks be interested in getting one with [insert pride flag of your choice] ?
They're 2133 x 2133 pixels and I'll send you the PNG and a PSD if you want it
I can probably figure out how to make them actually replace the finder icon if you use a Mac, too
Lol...
trying to figure out why the British media is suddenly much more excited about Andy Burnham and uh... yeah, buddy made his deals with the devil already.

So, it's class war then. Cause I dunno how you can vote for Fascism Lite and expect to beat fascism.

The Wikimedia Foundation has dissolved the Community Tech team and laid off 5 engineers + 1 manager while unionization efforts are ongoing.
Contributors are raising concerns about loss of community-focused engineering, possible union busting and growing disconnect between WMF leadership and volunteers
A solidarity initiative is now underway across Wikimedia projects.

…What if we did transition? In the sense of stopping using all fossil fuels by replacing all of their *utility* with renewables made with fossil fuels… except magically not made with fossil fuels? 🤔
Unless we actually decide not to grow power use (energy throughput per unit of time) and mandate the governance to ensure that (tough work), we would still be addicted to growing power…
…And the US has been growing its energy throughput by about 2.9% per annum since before it was officially the US.
If we do this with solar PV with 20% efficiency we cover the entire land area of Earth in PV within 3 centuries. (And all of Earth is consequently the US I guess.) If we do it with magical 100% efficient PV we end up in the same place about 1 century later
