it's amazing how Trump, at nearly 80 years old, comes across as a guy who has never had real friends and is desperate for human connection. he thinks he's buddies with President Xi!

@aaron.rupar he talks about all the state events like they are personal gifts from his friend Xi Jinping who likes him so much.
The inability to delegate has historically been a failure mode for senior tech folks.
However the rise of AI means you can now be a “super IC” for whom it’s more effective to just use Claude to do the work than guide one or more junior people to do the work.
In tech, this is slowly becoming more respected than being a manager.
Interesting and obvious question seems to be how do you learn to be a “Hi-C” (senior AI empowered IC) without ever being in a team under one?
This will probably be a new knock-on hype curve but for company structure where it lands, I have no idea, but intuitively I’m thinking companies and organisational hierarchy are just coupled in some respect and this Hi-C thing is just a flex with similar scopes already existing.
Now they’ve discovered external style sheets.
@ricmac
The Vibe coders discover that it actually helps to learn a bit of the language they're pretending to know in order to write anything in it...

Hope you like patching Linux boxes!
I wrote my semi-regular emails to politicians. And I'm writing about it here to maybe inspire a few of you to write another email to your politicians about any of the many things that need fighting right now. It's one of those things that is important in aggregate, so keep doing it, even though it sucks.
@sundogplanets honestly, I appreciate the reminder.
I am happy that there are so many options for topical mouth-friendly local numbing.
But what I think I really need is something to encourage the gum and inside of my cheek to heal. Those are torn up to hell from the attempted extraction, and making it very difficult to tell what's occasionally oozing. (And also making it difficult and painful to try to keep the tooth clean-ish.)
This is such a bop and I need to hear this at every Indian wedding this season

Or any wedding, honestly
How in the fuck can a service provider just cut out a town like that?!
Energy supplier abandons Lake Tahoe residents to serve data centers
@majorlinux Thanks for sharing, I'm definitely showing this to my MLA if he writes back with stupid reassurances about the new AI data centre here. (Also, I've been interviewed a few times about satellite pollution by the author of this article!)
I just emailed a strongly worded letter
to my government representative to oppose Bill C-22.
If you are Canadian, you should too: https://action.openmedia.org/page/188754/action/1
@Em0nM4stodon Signed the petition and emailed my MP, lets hope this works!
I hope everyone who wilfully puts their car in a crosswalk so nobody can walk safely gets their cars randomly keyed from time to time, and a lifetime of unexpected parking tickets
My cat ate the rest of this month's calendar. 📅
Needless to say, I was dismayed.
@catsalad if they'd only held off a month, the excision would be disjunective.

All the Aussies I follow are awake and tooting. Which is my hint to put my phone down and try the whole sleep thing.
(This isn't a judgement on the Aussie toots, it's a judgement on it being 4am here... And y'all just reminded me of that. (Also, gday)).
@quixoticgeek G'night.
Cis folk - have you ever had even the most fleeting thought to change your name? To what? For any reason. Just cool. Connection. Vibes. Whatever.
Do it.
I once got in trouble so many times I wanted a different name because hearing my own gave me anxiety
@steve i quite liked hearing that nash very casually mentioned that the solution to an iterated prisoner's dilemma is completely different than a memoryless one. in this case, riley has incomplete information, so it doesn't quite apply
@steve this is however one reason i definitely search for research topics that aren't interesting to others because you can win quite easily this way. and i was never very good at the typical stuff anyway
Good time to speak up about this, at the same time Cornell's President is also facing scrutiny for, you know, hitting a student with his car.
Cornell desperately needs new leadership.

You need to understand that normal people don’t recommend delivery services to their family and friends. Also, you lost the package inside Sunshine West for 4 days.
