One of my most fervent education takes is that we should be teaching programming earlier, and more than manual arithmetic. By high school, no student should be carrying the 1 on a math test.
@mttaggart I totally agree,
The same is true for stochastical problems. I once could not believe the Monty Hall problem.
So I just wrote a simple sampler with randints following the two solution paths and collect the wins. This helped me a lot, understanding the problem.
What happens when you write to /dev/null ?

客户压缩我工期,我就在现场天天给他们员工散布仇恨的种子。“这工资很难留住人的吧?你谈对象了吗?”“文具还要申请?也太抠了,知道你们公司今年股票涨了几倍吗?”“加班费有没有?”

…The third 6 of 18 sections in https://how.complexsystems.fail:
13. Human expertise in complex systems is constantly changing
14. Change introduces new forms of failure
15. Views of ‘cause’ limit the effectiveness of defenses against future events
16. Safety is a characteristic of systems and not of their components
17. People continuously create safety
18. Failure free operations require experience with failure

Very interesting, thanks.
@defakator it might be of your interest?
goodmorning everyone ✨
Bishop Swan is on my list of favorite Christians in America.
As for the white evangelicals he talks about in this quote, I offer another quote: “Your boos mean nothing. Over seen what makes you cheer.”
i remember your epic dr who extravaganza, and wondering if you were a time lord because of the speed you got through it.
I really tried with the older ones, starting with Troughton, but they were long and cardboard. Then I skipped to Baker and wanted to love it, but it was long and impenetrably weird. I know I should like it, so might try again at some point. I'm currently hyperfixated on Dungeon Crawler Carl and have just done the first 7 books and now have to wait for the new one to come out next week, so it'll be interesting to find out what my next deep dive will be. Will it be a healthy obsession or yet more self-destruction?! Who knows?! Tune in next week to find out, on...... The Ben Show! 🎺

Thursday. What a concept.
@WizardOfDocs @beandreams @Canageek @jacel it's not removed, it's converted to it's component sugars and I don't think the level of sweetness changes all that much from lactose to glucose + galactose
(the split is because they just dump in a bunch of lactase, which is the same enzyme you can take in pill form if you're lactose intolerant, it's pretty cool that it works under a wide range of conditions)
