OAKLAND — California Attorney General Rob Bonta filed a motion for a preliminary injunction to block the Trump Administration from unlawfully ordering Sable Offshore Corp. (Sable), under the Defense Production Act (DPA), to restart two California onshore oil pipelines that are subject to State regulation and oversight. In March 2026, Attorney General Bonta challenged the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Chris Wright’s “Pipeline Capacity Prioritization and Allocation Order” under the DPA.

If you hit a hammer in your head the hammer is not dumb, if you give inputs to extract text from a vector database the software is not smart. I am not targeting you, I am only cautious of people humanizing things because those human things are not real, sometimes people talk to AI like they talk to the dogs, and the "reasoning" of the dog which is our reasoning reflected on the dog is not more real than the "reasoning" of AI.

Satirical protest installation outside the Met Museum in New York for the 2026 Met Gala. A fake red-and-white “Met Gala VIP toilet” sign, styled like official museum signage, says it was installed in honor of Met Gala chair Jeff Bezos and tells attendees it is “good enough for his staff.” Below the sign, a white basket is filled with empty plastic water bottles, referencing reports and lawsuits about Amazon workers and delivery drivers urinating in bottles because of workplace pressure and lack of bathroom access. The piece targets Bezos’s role as Met Gala sponsor and honorary co-chair, turning the $100,000-a-ticket event into a sharp joke about wealth, celebrity, labor conditions, and who gets treated as disposable.

I wish scientists would still write papers like this, rather than catering to the glamour press. Note the ideas in this paper have been widely influential, and itself has gathered thousands of citations, pretty much all of them well beyond two years after publication.

A wing would be a most mystifying structure if one did not know that birds flew. One might observe that it could be extended a considerable distance, that it had a smooth covering of feathers withconspicuous markings, that it was operated by powerful muscles, and that strength and lightness were prominent features of its construction. These are important facts, but by themselves they do not tell us that birds fly. Yet without knowing this, and without understanding something of the principles of flight, a more detailed examination of the wing itself would probably be unrewarding. I think that wemay be at an analogous point in our understanding of the sensory side of the central nervous system. W e have got our first batch of
facts from the anatomical, neurophysiological, and psychophysical study of sensation and perception, and now we need ideas about what operations are performed by the various structures we have examined. For the bird’s wing we can say that it accelerates downwards the air flowing past it and so derives an upward force which supports the weight of the bird; what would be a similar summary of the most important operation performed at a sensory relay? It seems to me vitally important to have in mind possible answers to this question when investigating these structures, for if one does not one will get lost in a mass of irrelevant detail and fail to make the crucial observations.
