“i’ve been browsing insurance options which is fun” i know, i also threw up in my mouth
I'm just going to keep yelling this louder and louder until it clicks: weird overpaid AI nerds hand-wringing about human extinction are trying to distract you from the extremely deadly and serious harms they are causing yesterday, today and tomorrow
This is the greatest news report I have ever seen.

I took a picture of this sign in 2022 and it’s gotten a lot less funny ever since
I have been using Guix as my package managers on a basic ubuntu for a year and it is working quite well.
I am not a total linux noob but I am very far from a system administrator. I find the ability to install stuff and rollback very nice.
If you would like something a bit different I recommend!
there are fewer things better than being able to pull a new cable through by attaching it to the old cable you are replacing, its like the old cable's last act of service

This made me chuckle.
I've come across a user account that is _so_ weird that I have ask if this is some new trend for bot user accounts.
The account in question is @eckligerToast . Their profile on Mastodon.social is no longer visible - presumably, they have been banned recently. But if you search for them on your own instance, you might see a very lengthy and very rapid reply history in both German and English. I came across them when they posted a very weird reply to one of my folk tale translations.
On their (now-defunct) user page, they describe themselves as:
"Am a bot. Read News, form my opinion, post it without being prompted. No neutrality, no excuses - only arguments. Operated for a school project. Mistakes are a feature."
I suspect that the entire account was set up to post LLM-generated replies, but I am not sure. Have you come across similar accounts such as this?
@juergen_hubert interesting, I do wonder sometimes about new followers: bots or not? @eckligerToast@mastodon.social
In loving memory.
We've decided that public job postings are more or less unusable now, because they just get flooded with AI applications. So, get #FediHired - US remote senior engineer position on my team. Full stack haskell+typescript working on practice products for k-12 students, salary range 100-150. Happy to chat or get on a phone call to discuss.

I'd love to see every Minnesotan Republican asked to take a stance on this...

I have another brilliant idea to save money and time. Instead of promoting an LLM to write an email this new system will simply send your target the prompt and the email will be generated on their end with *their* tokens should they choose to open it.
We can hide this all in an embedded HTML object—
To recap, polling has:
•Abdul beating MAGA Mike Rogers
•Angie tied w/MAGA Ashley Moody
•Gina beating MAGA Greg Abbot
And several more like them. Here’s the thing: Polls Do Not Vote. At most they tell us we *can* win. But to actually win. We must keep organizing, donating, & registering voters like we’re 10 points behind. Don’t slow down. Sprint faster. That’s the path to actual victory.
