Wary of Artemis IV timeline, NASA is changing lunar spacesuit design

@arstechnica The Apollo moonsuits and most proposed updates are very heavy; workable because of the Moon's low gravity. But unlike Luna's 16% surface gravity, Mars has 39%. How do you make an adequate full-pressure suit suitable for Mars?

It's really not. All sorts of things can create the perception of economic growth. Property prices being driven up by speculation. Rich people moving to NZ with their money. None of which, in themselves, do anything to create opportunities or jobs. What actually creates those things is the redistribution of money from hoarders to spenders.

Exactly the opposite of what all Nicky NoBoats' budgets have done. Which is why everything that was coming right in 2022 and especially 23 started getting worse again, as soon as she took over as finance minister.
Perhaps Willis might understand that if she had any background in economics, whatsoever. On paper, I'm just as qualified to be finance minister as she is, and I wager I'd do a better job. Simply because it would be hard to do a worse job.

Today's Low Quality Ad is for this T-Rex Cat Pin. Look at that bloodthirsty beast, ready to violently eviscerate any poor creature it comes across with its razor-sharp claws and teeth. Oh and there's also a T-Rex.

@lowqualityfacts it feels like the cultural programming on this is incomplete. Given our current reality, this could be princess donut riding on mongo, but trying to avoid merch licensing fees.
I'm bored. Who's your favorite tv character and why?
@Gina I don’t watch much TV, so this is an old one: Mozzie from the show White Collar.
NEW: Over the “strongest possible” objections of a federal prosecutor handling the case, Trump DOJ officials quashed plans to bring civil rights charges against an ICE agent accused of shooting a Venezuelan immigrant and then lying about it.

@ProPublica Well, you can't charge the #Gestapo with murder if the Gestapo doesn't want to be charged with murder.

@Unixbigot OK so at first glance it doesn't seem to contain some diode/cap ladder HV buckbang upconverter thingamajig, does it? 5V -> 20V 🎉 @jpm
@otte_homan @Unixbigot nope this IC is purely a “PD Trigger” that negotiates USB-C power delivery based on the setting of its configuration pins, and then exposes the USB power lines to whatever you attach it to.
It is usually easier to handle higher voltages at lower currents across a circuit, and regulate the voltage closer to the device that’s eating the most power.

I post a lot of stories about cops using Flock to stalk former or current partners, but don't forget that cops also use Flock to intimidate and harass people who try to hold them accountable.
@evacide for anyone not familiar with this math, cops harass and intimidate - give them tools to make it easier and more effective, and you'll get more harassment and intimidation

kudos to The Verge for juxtaposing one of DHH's many insane racist/fascist statements right next to the bullshit victimization rhetoric of that 1Password cofounder
@nileane is the person scared also the one saying this?
@lispi314 The use of assistive technology doesn't automatically make it a search. But it makes the analysis more complex. For example, the use of hidden microphones almost always requires a warrant. But standard hearing aids don't.

As a general rule, observing things with your unaided human senses from places you're legally entitled to be is usually not considered a "search" for the purposes of the fourth amendment. But there are a lot of qualifiers in there, and a lot depends on specific facts and circumstances.
