I read a lot of stacks and they have been throttling mid-level writers for a while now. People with no readers never get promoted. People like Paul Krugman get shoved at everyone. And people in the middle are being killed off because apparently substack doesn't want their business.
I really wouldn't bother if I were you. Honestly, I'd self-host. I really see no other way. Otherwise you're just giving your work to the worst people in the world.

Public Transport shouldn't make a profit. The reason Public Transport exists is because a business can't make a profit. But the shops and markets that profit from riders of Transit do. It maintains a vibrant healthy village or town center at low cost. London would probably be abandoned without Public Transit.

Nattering with @Jaimieserotica about office dress, I realise that I don't recall the last time I saw someone wearing a suit, let alone a tie.
Most people with whom I work tend to wear either t-shirts or polo shirts, or something similarly "casual".
In an office setting, jeans, a casual dress, or a skirt, but rarely shorts.
Perhaps 1 in 10 is someone in a collared shirt.
@neil When I hear people drifting into casual racism, I have taken to throwng in some variant of "yeah, white men in suits, we all know about _them_". Funny, everyone remembers a time a white man in a suit screwed them over.

I’m painting our soffits this morning. I found a very wet and bedraggled bumblebee at the top of the scaffolding so carried them down to some flowers, which they seemed to appreciate. Then I found a bush cricket inspecting my pointing! (Don’t look too closely - it’s my first attempt).

Something we wanted to get across in this episode was that Petrov's moment didn't happen in isolation.
It was the result of a series of intelligence failures, political posturing and paranoia from both sides.
And that it wasn't even the culmination of the crisis. That didn't happen until Reforger/Able Archer later that year.
Only after that, did the political leadership on both sides realise the world was on the brink and everyone needed to calm the fuck down.
@garius And KAL-007. People know a lot about the Cuban Missile Crisis, but in1983 the world could've gone to hell in a handbasket even more easily.
