What programing languages and operating systems have the most diverse folks "in charge"? Who are the most inclusive? Who as at least as many women as men? What projects are steered by a full chorus of LGBTQIA+ folks? Where are BIPOC putting their energy and power?

'Cause every time we complain about a fash we should lift up the work they fight against two times.

On the social side its more about perspective shift than defining shared vision.

For Social coding commons and Social experience design (SX) I use the following definition for Social networking: Any direct and indirect human interaction between people. I consider Social media a subset of social networking that's more focused on publishing of content.

This definition considers ALL human interaction, both online and offline. And it provides the scope to think of when designing solutions. Social networking is everywhere. And importantly it flows seamlessly together, forming our day-to-day social experience. Everything is integrated.

To translate that to technology, the fediverse would be a unified online space, where we consume services that are introduced to the network by developers.

As solution developer I'd be shielded from the terms in your technology tree. I'd be focused on designing business domains for my solution: a new service.

@alexisbushnell The BNF (British Drugs Bible) has 30mg tablets and for Ankylosing Spondylosis it's suggesting 60mg once a day but you can get 30mg tabs and I'd be well in for pushing the GP for 2x 30 and try it that way. I genuinely can't see the harm in it.

On last boost, and I realise I'm yelling into the void here, but...

No project I have any influence over will use generative AI. I still believe, even having looked at what people have done with it and seeing how clever the technology is, that the majority of uses of generative AI can be done cheaper and quicker by the curiously underrated technique of Thinking A Little Bit.

I feel kind of bitter about this, because a whole team of people whose mathematical work has been very inspiring and enlightening to me has pivoted to working on “autoformalisation” — in other words, “messing around with the computer and begging it to keep working”.

I am not saying that it's impossible for anything of value to come from that work. I am saying that it is a huge social waste for some of our most brilliant researchers to be working on such things… From them, I want more novel mathematics, more brilliant textbooks, more community-oriented proof libraries!

I am not blaming people for the fact that funding for doing almost anything else is scarce… You have to survive. I'm just sad about it.

Reclaiming slurs (or even mockery) is difficult. E.g. How does it feel if your group is referred to by that "reclaimed" term, e.g. by people who you tend to disagree with?
