Nel tempo, ha costruito una rete di server collocati in molti paesi del mondo che gli permette di offrire a diverse migliaia di utenti gli strumenti per una navigazione consapevole, che tutela la loro libertà di informazione e comunicazione. Questo libro è prima di tutto un azzardo, un tentativo di narrazione pensato a partire dai ricordi di chi in A/I c'è stato, di chi passava di lì per caso ed è rimasto, di chi ha dato una mano, di chi ancora, ogni giorno decide che ne vale la pena. I know this is only partly reasonable, but, this morning’s shower thought:
My work, as do most employers I know of in tech right now, requires us to use LLMs in some capacity. Otherwise, I would not involve LLMs in my work, since I find using them is generally an exercise in gold panning, even when I use a fleet of agents with a corrector / Socratic questioner. I find that use of AI slows my work down.
This is because LLM-generated code is, objectively, unoptimized slop and generally seems to take the naive partly wrong path even when it ‘works’. If I vibe code something and try to PR it without refactoring 80-90% of it, my CI tests and linters fail, the code mostly *doesn’t* do what I actually want, and seemingly does it the worst way possible within the parameters given. This is in response to doing my best to very specifically prompt for what I want. (If you are reading this and find yourself feeling the masculine urge to tell me to ‘just prompt better’, I will defenestrate you.)
This slop output is building on top of decades of people writing wasteful code because computing was ‘cheap’. The original lunar lander had the computing power of a fancy coffee maker. Now due to resource demand and lack of optimization and AI use, computing is expensive. If we wrote code as resource-consciously as we needed to when we had only fancy coffee maker level computing available, we wouldn’t need all these datacenters and a suggestion we might need ‘a buildout for the AI demand of the future’ would seem asinine

we should probably abandon the old meaning of open-source and move to something i call ethical-source
genAI involvement (excluding issues and PRs from outside users sent to a project that are not immediately turned down) immediately disqualifies a project from being ethical-source.
you're allowed to close your source so certain groups and people can only see it to block scraping and corporations, etc.

given the infrastructure that has been created to generate hash collisions i consider SHA-256 likely cracked for practical purposes and don't understand it enough to make claims about SHA-512. sha-3 is a linear feedback shift register. i will have to solve this myself too and i hate that. sleeping now too

I love how the reason for all the proposed new data centers is about "winning the AI race with China." Meanwhile opposing the creation of new data centers means you fell for China's bot farm propaganda that is seeking to turn public opinion against US advancement in AI. The implication is that people who oppose new data centers are both anti-American and gullible tools.
