Looking with a huge side eye at the ableism in the idea that your activism only counts if you're physically taking the part all the time.
I'll be IRL when gatherings have a robust public health policy and consider masking as part of solidarity.
Activism by it's nature is performative. That's the point of it.
Community work is labour, regardless of how public or private it is.
But it does tell me who wants us to be quiet. Who doesn't wonder who disappeared and why.

The European Union's privacy laws are ill equipped to deal with the pervert glasses of Meta & Co.
First, because you need to know that you've been recorded and who did the recording to file a complaint. You usually won't.
Second, because you can only file a complaint after your privacy has been violated. That's too late.
Third, because proceedings usually take years. That's too long.
A ban is the only way to protect our privacy!

Sufficient things are broken (for me, anyway) for it to be a pain.
Oddly, even though I installed what I thought was the latest version from the releases page, there's a whole new point version release for the "network" component as an upgrade.
I am not expected it to fix any of the issues that I have noted, though.

@MaddieM4 Yeah, I discovered The Primeagen in 2020 when I decided it's time I finally learned Vim. He was still unknown but had a good series about Vim on his channel. And he still had a dayjob. I discovered him literally by typing "vim tutorial" into YouTube. (I also saw some DistroTube videos but didn't like them as much as Primeagen's videos.)
The elitist Linux people with their "just use the vimtutor" were really off-putting to me, and here was a guy who seemed to know what he was talking about, presented the information I needed to learn in a more appealing way, and was funny and engaging with his "sweet, sweet coconut oil" jokes.
But as so often when unknown YouTubers eventually reach fame and become influencers and quit their dayjobs, I rapidly got turned off by Primeagen and his livestream interactions with the chat. That was years ago, years before he spoke at DHH's conference.
I also learned a lot about Neovim from watching TJ Devries and he also spoke at DHH's conference. Then again, the Neovim core maintainer team have a Palantir employee on board. They're all perfectly comfortable with fascism.
