Nobody is immune from phishing attacks. Not even Signal users.
Signal has published a good article warning about phishing risks on their platform. Remember to always setup a Signal username instead of sharing your phone number.
Whenever people feel the status-quo is failing them, or disintegrating, they move to the political extremes, for obvious reasons. Labour has moved to the centre - to defend the status-quo - just as lots of voters are moving away from it. Which way voters move though is not necessarily rational - most people are not well informed, nor are they particularly interested in politics - at least as politics is represented in the media. They know they want things to change, but don't know who to believe will make the right changes.
Left/green and right are opposed only in terms of their ideas and values - voters move easily between them. It's well recognised in France that a large group of RN (extreme right) voters are former communists. They were never really communists, nor are they now fascists - but the Communist Party once seemed to offer a credible route out of their oppression, now RN seems a more immediate prospect.
Maybe, like Americans, they have to actually see the right fail before coming back to the left.

Swifts are disappearing from our skies fast: numbers have fallen by up to 60% in a single generation.
And yet there’s a simple solution to this speedy decline. The Government just needs to make it a legal requirement for all new houses to include swift bricks: a £35 hollow brick that gives these birds a safe place to nest.
Scotland has already done this but the rest of the UK still lags behind.
We must push the UK Government to do the same here in England

@SRAZKVT in order to query the operating system for the existence of a file—WHICH THE FILESYSTEM OSTENSIBLY MAINTAINS A WHOLE SEPARATE ATTRIBUTES DATABASE TO KEEP TRACK OF—you have to go and actually try to read it from disk using a path string which might decide to go somewhere else after an update
@grimalkina it is quite maddening. I ran up against this in my early MA work on gender disparities in journalism. Orgs with vast data teams were very reluctant to study themselves and voraciously eager to hear about peers.
@grimalkina I eventually gave up on research about equity and representation in journalism (though not other work on it), after concluding they could speak truth to any power but themselves.
