@farah This is fair.
This person, presumably a developer, will never use AI. First reason, you become dependent, is a true and valid concern. But other parts of their argument are not true. It’s really good at explaining things I already know about, where journalists and Wikipedia are awful in comparison.
@davew From what I do know of the developer, they're a decent person making a great app. I think his points are quite valid.
The only thing you could say is perhaps he should specific LLMs which are being sold as *the* AI and are perhaps the worse example of it. At least for what it's being sold as.
I try not fire off links all over the place but, I guess I'm repeating this one. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a non-Apple specific link that's decent

I don't want to seem dramatic but someone has definitely stolen my shorts
Are you needing a search party?
Can we convince these rationalists to go away?
Should I play Genshin or read a book?
@farah
Always better to read IMHO, not being a gamer, but you do you much better than anyone else!
Hello and welcome to this week's recipe! I love running a recipe website.
When I was young, my grandma used to take me to the local market on a Saturday.
I used to love the smell of the freshly baked bread from the baker's stall.
I can clearly remember the different loaves that were available, and how the baker would often give me a hot cross bun for free at Easter time. I think that he fancied me a bit.
Sadly, my grandma is no longer with us, but every so often, I make this recipe in memory of her and the lovely times that I had with her.
Perhaps you will make it too, and experience a deep connection with a loved one.
Pop some bread in the toaster, turn it on, and wait until it pops.
Tried this yourself? Please leave a comment below.
@neil this made me laugh more than I should have. I have a recipe site. I think I have maybe two entries that have some sort of ‘story’ on them. Most are just the recipe and that’s it.
obviously, from a practical perspective, legal compliance is important. but the actual goal has to be fostering software that sustainably empowers people, and you can't do that with ai-generated code, regardless of its copyright status

@davidgerard I just read this entire thing out loud to my husband.

@Edent Chrome or Vivaldi on Mac. It does not do it on Firefox or Safari.
@dracos you're not wrong! This might require more thinking juice.

I spent today driving 2.5 hours each way to watch my daughter's new football team lose every game in a tournament. It rained heavily at times, they scored no goals, and she picked up an injury (she'll be fine but had to sit out the final game)
It's going to be a long season.
@dajb
May the next outing have different outcomes.
(discussing "Ghostbusters")
Me: "I feel like it hasn't aged well."
Mr. Blue: "It was a 1980s movie -- nothing has aged well."
If we start splitting hairs, nothing except for a counted few works have aged well at all.

The APK is 3.43.1 from F-Droid.
@dancingtreefrog
I installed Malwarebytes and the scan is clean, even with several downloaded APKs. This looks like a false positive, possibly already fixed in a database update.
Sarla Thakral (also spelt Thakral; August 8, 1914 – March 15, 2008) was the first Indian woman to fly an aircraft.
In 1936, at just 21 years old, she earned her aviation pilot license and famously made her first solo flight in a Gypsy Moth biplane while dressed in a traditional sari.
Later she became a successful artist, watercolor painter, and designer of textiles & costume jewelry. She passed away in 2008 at the age of 93

So I have been primarily a Debian user since like Debian Woody. That's damn near 20 years now.
I'm probably not going to be moving off it anytime soon just because it is where my home is.
But if I wanted to move to another distro, given the situation... What other options are there?
I want something rock solid stable. I mean, it shouldn't break unless I break it. Debian has always been that for me.
@trashpanda I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm giving Gentoo a look.
Sorry, the app encountered an unexpected error
